A good example of a rare helmet being the lightweight officers version as worn by a Prussian Reserve Cuirassier officer.
The all white metal skull is generally in good condition, very minor indentations to the back of the skull, some areas of the plating lifting mainly on the lower rear lobster tail and on some areas of the double stepped front peak. The helmet is of a very large size, which is unusual for the late 19th century, the wearer obviously being a very large man.
The gilt is good to the Prussian front plate, which of course being a reserve officer has the 'FR' in raised relief to the centre of the eagle's breast with the reserve officers white metal cross below. Standard domed officers chin scales with side clover leaf and correct officers large size cockades. The white metal fluted spike, which is removable, is undamaged. It would appear that one of the domed nuts holding the clover leaf spike base to the helmet has been replaced, three have nuts and bolts, one has a split pin.
To the interior of the helmet the green leather to the interior of the front peak is all complete and in good order. The light tan leather to the interior of the back peak has suffered and is shredded in places. The interior leather sweat band is complete and in good order with obvious wear use and is still complete with its artificial silk inner liner.
