Very rare Kriegsmarine EM/NCO sidecap to an U-Boot crew member show served with a boat which belonged to the 9. U-Boot-Flotille. It comes with an original attached zinc cap badge "laughing sawfish" which was the symbol of 9.U-Boot-Flotille.
It was used by U-217, U-230, U-377, U-407, U-450, U-591, U-659, U-664, U-739, U-954 and of course the most famous U-96.
The cap badge is absolutely original attached in my opinion. Hand-attached. The thread seems to have been waxed.
You can see a clear shadow the badge left to the blue cloth. Minor oxidation to the reverse.
The machine-woven cap eagle and cockade are correctly attached by hand as well.
Black lining. White stamps. One could be a 55 size stamp.
Nearly unworn! No moth damage. Very nice condition.
The only convincing sidecap with a "laughing sawfish" badge attached since years!
