Description
Waffen-SS, officers'-pattern M43-type field-cap. The cap is executed in field-grey- (ie. police-type-) wool and shows wear and age. The cap shows an officers'-pattern eagle mounted on its side: this eagle is executed in silver-coloured braid on a black-coloured background and is executed in so-called: BeVo-weave 'flatwire'-pattern. Moreover, does it show a (smaller-sized) skull attached to its front. (This example is of the EM/NCO-pattern and is executed in the BeVo-weave pattern). Both insignia-pieces are mounted by hand. The cap seems to have been period 'upgraded' to an officers'-pattern cap: something that can be deducted by the later attached silver-coloured braid on its top. The cap shows two (silver-coloured) buttons and shows some age, wear and staining. Moreover, does it show some moth-damage. The lining is executed in silver-grey-coloured linnen (and shows a size-marking: '57').  The cap once had a leather-based sweat-band attached: this is, however, missing: just the remains are present and visible.
