KC winner Pichler - 1957 Knight's Cross in case (S&L)
Description
Johann Pichler (1912-1995) was a German Luftwaffe ace and Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross winner. Awarded on 19. August 1944 as Fahnenjunker-Oberfeldwebel and pilot in the 7./Jagdgeschwader 77. During his military career, he flew 365 air sorties and credited 75 aerial victories. Also awarded with German Cross in gold on 18.03.1943 and Luftwaffe Honor Goblet on 25.06.1943 as well as other awards. On 30. August 1944 he was wounded at the eastern front. Subsequently, he was a Soviet prisoner of war.
All items to Pichler came straight of the family and were never available on the market before.

An excellent Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. 1957 type. Steinhauer & Lück made example with so-called "B-type" frame. 1st pattern core.
Three-part construction with an iron core. Original black paint. Matching ribbon (23 cm). The two bands at the ends were cut off.
With the case of issue. Hinge and button are magnetic. It opens and closes correctly.
