Description

Johann Pichler (1912-1995) was a German Luftwaffe ace and Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross winner. Awarded on 19. August 1944 as Fahnenjunker-Oberfeldwebel and pilot in the 7./Jagdgeschwader 77. During his military career, he flew 365 air sorties and credited 75 aerial victories. Also awarded with German Cross in gold on 18.03.1943 and Luftwaffe Honor Goblet on 25.06.1943 as well as other awards. On 30. August 1944 he was wounded at the eastern front. Subsequently, he was a Soviet prisoner of war.

All items to Pichler came straight of the family and were never available on the market before.

The lot comes with eight postwar letters from Johann Pichler to Leutnant David Sims (USA). Partially handwritten. Including two period time photos with information to the back. Both postwar signed by him. Furthermore two postwar photos. One signed by him.

Including pages from the "AIR COMBAT 1939-1945" magazine.

Good condition.
