Description

Family purchased grouping to Oberleutnant Günter Schulze, recipient of the German Cross in gold and one Tank Destruction Badge. Schulze was officially recommended to be awarded the Knight's Cross serving with Panzergrenadier-Regiment 101. Schulze's story is mentioned in the book "Von Stalingrad bis Kursk: Als der Osten brannte, Teil II, - 1942/43" by Henning Stühring. A division priest describes that run crying over the battlefield search for his destroyed battalion after an attack.

A small booklet with original photographs of Schulze serving as commander of 7./Panzergrenadier-Regiment 101. The regiment fought near Gusewka at this time. He set the album up at the front as it says on the inner cover. The first page shows the regiment commander, Oberst Triptons (?). Inside are rare front photographs. Schulze is shows with his Tank Destruction Badge and the German Cross on some photos. There are 31 photos in total followed by an address list of his comrades who wanted to have certain photos inside the booklet as copies.

There is another lot of 36 photos to Schulze kept in a small box. Most of them come with additional information. All look to have been taken in Russia as well.

A nice lot which was purchased by the widow of Schulze. It was never in collector's hands.
