Description
Scarce ornamented field blouse to Hauptmann Friedrich Überhack. Übelhack was born on 6.10.07 in Munich and served with Geb.Jäg.Rgt.98 in the late 1930s. He was promoted to a Hauptmann on 1.4.1938 and served as commander of 3./Geb.Jäg.Rgt.98 during the Poland Campaign.
Shortly after he graduated from the "Kriegsakademie für den Generalstabsdienst" (Dresden) and served with Stab of Generalfeldmarschall Günther von Kluge (4.Armee) during the France Campaign in 1940. He was then ordered to Russia but only served there until 10.12.41 when he was called to XXXVI.Gebirgs-Armeekorops where he served as "Ia" (operations officer) in Finland. Later on, he served as Ia of 163. Inf.Div. and 20.Gebirgs-Armee (Generaloberst Rendulic).

Übelhack was promoted to an Oberst and on 1.1.1945 served as Ia of "Wehrmachtsbefehlshaber Norwegen". He also was responsible to fighting the Norwegian resistance. He was captured by the British in 1945.

Friedrich Übelhack joined the Bundeswehr in 1956 and was promoted up to an Generalleutnant (1964). He served as commander of 4.Panzergrenadier-Division (Regensburg) and as head of "Kommandos Territoriale Verteidigung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland". He was awarded the "Große Verdienstkreuz mit Stern des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" in 1968 and died on 2.11.1979.

Uniform:
A very nice and incredibly rare so-called "geschmückte Feldbluse". A rare ornamented field blue with vertical piping next to the button line and piping around the sleeves. These tunics are around for ordinary branches but are extremely hard to find for Gebirgsjäger. To find one the famous Geb.Jäg.Rgt.98 is nearly impossible. Here we have not only a rare Geb.Jäg.Rgt.98 example but one to a well known WW2 officer and later General.

100% original attached insignia. Collar tabs attached by machine, officers breast eagle attached by hand as it should be. Fine officers Gebirgsjäger Edelweiss sleeve badge attached by hand. Prewar tunic with one pair of loops for a Sports Bade and one pair of loops for a ribbon bar. The badge and ribbon bar part of this tunic were added by the last owner. Both did not belong to Übelhack but are part of this offer!

KUHN & NUPNAU MÜNCHEN tailors label. Also a matching name tag inside the inner pocket. It is 15.3.39 dated and named to "Hauptmann Übelhack".

Excellent condition. Minor signs of wear. Size M.

A extremely rare tunic with provenience and a lot of room for additional research! Please see last picture for a photo of Übelhack taken in 1945 as a POW.
