Description
Posthumously awarded Knight´s Cross of the Iron Cross to Karl Wendt.
Oberfeldwebel Karl Wendt was awarded the Knight´s Cross on 21.9.1944, five days after he was killed in action near Jaun-Rukman, Lativa. He served as a Zugführer of the 2.Kompanie Gren.Rgt.412.

Fine unworn Knight´s Cross made by Steinhauer & Lück. An unquestionable period time manufactured example which collectors call the "micro 800" type. Textbook "A-type" frame with perfect "white-frosty" finish. Minor patina spots. Excellent black iron core with 100% paint. "800" stamped to the back of the frame (12 o clock position) and the ring. A fine textbook example in condition 1-
It cross comes with a fine original full size ribbon. Length: 72cm.

Correct black case of issue. Silk lining. Black felt inlay. Opening and close corrects. Minor signs of age. Condition 2.

15 original photos of the recipient including a portrait photo wearing the Knight´s Cross. The cross was perfectly period time retouched into the photo which was typical for posthumously awarded recipients. One photo shows the grave of his brother Leutnant Fritz Wendt.
