Waldemar von Fischer (1189 - 1974) served as a WW1 u-boat commander during WWI and as chief of staff of the WWII shipyards St. Nazaire and La Rochelle during WWII. He became Danish Naval Commander Islands from August 1944 until the end of the war.

His WWI U-Boot commands were: 
UB 33 - 1.2.1917 - 21.3.1917 
UC 60 - 25.6.1917 - 30.11.1917 
UB 38 - 6.12.1917 - 24.12.1917 
UB 126 - 20.4.1918 - 11.11.1918

Outstanding "Kaiserliche Marine" officer's sword with a real Damascus blade made by WKC. The sword was presented by Hans Geisler to Waldemar von Fischer. The blade is etched "Hans Geisler s/l Waldemar v. Fischer" to the front side. It is maker marked to the company which etched the blade to the small side. The blade is slightly damaged to the tip and shows some minor rust stains. Overall good condition with original red protection leather. 
Brass guard with original gilding remaining. "v. Fischer" engraved to the reverse of the crossguard. White handle from ivory. Originally attached officer's portepee. Intact metal wire. Real ivory. 

Original leather scabbard with brass fittings showing original gilding. The patina is perfectly matching the sword. Nice detail to all ornaments. Leather partially fragile with bends and cracks. Including two leather straps. One broken.

Hans Geisler (1891 - 1966) served as a later Luftwaffe General during WWII. In 1909 he joined the Imperial German Navy and served during the entire war being promoted an Oberleutnant zur See in 1915. He served as an observer with II. Marine-Flieger-Abteilung from May 1915 until June 1916. From October 1917 he switched to II. Seeflieger-Abteilung. Until 1919, he served as special officer of „Marine-Flugchef“ Kapitän zur See Heinrich Otto Kranzbühler in Berlin.

Geisler joined the newly formed Luftwaffe in September 1933, reaching the rank of General der Flieger in July 1940. As commander of Fliegerkorps X from 2.10.1939 until 31.8.1942, he used his background as a sailor to specialise in anti-shipping aerial operations. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 4.5.1940. On 31.10.1942 he retired as a General der Flieger.
