This medal bar consists of the Prussian Iron Cross second class, 1914, with Iron Core and silver frame, the so called Hindenburg Cross, bronzed Iron, the Austrian Military Merit Cross with War Decoration in gilded silver, the extremely rare 3rd type, 1937, Bulgarian Civil Merit Order 4th class, gilded and enamel, the Greek Phoenix Order, Knight Cross in silver and enamel, the Serbian Order of the Yugoslav Crown, 4th Class, 2nd type and the Hungarian Order of Merit, Knight Cross in gilded silver and enamel. The bar is terminated on the revers with dark blue felt and full needle system.

The flat back type reverse centers of both the Order of Civil Merit & Order of Military Merit appeared only in 1937. The available print reference is Pavlov's Bulgarian Orders and Medals, Sofia, 2002, p. 97 for Civil Merit. Supposedly, it acknowledged Bulgaria's 50th year of 'total' independence from Ottoman Empire and/or [by cynics] the 50th anniversary of the House of Battemburg's replacement by the House of Saxe Coburg Gotha. The Greek Phoenix is the 1st republic type (1926–1935).
