The Free India Legion "Azad Hind" (Infanterie-Regiment 950) was a military unit raised during WWII initially as part of the Wehrmacht and later the Waffen-SS (Volunteer Legion of the Waffen-SS). Formed by Indian students resident in Germany and a handful of the Indian prisoners of war who had been captured during the North Africa Campaign. Their troop strength was up to 4500 men.
