Extensive German Cross in Gold grouping to Hauptmann Oskar L. serving as a company commander with Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 85.
The award comes directly from his family and was never on the market. What makes this grouping really special is that this grouping came together with the German Cross in gold grouping of Hauptmann H. which is also available in this catalog!
Hauptmann H. and Hauptmann L. were both decorated with the German Cross. Hauptmann H.’s son and Hauptmann L.’s daughter got married which is the reason both groupings came from the same family!
Hauptmann L. Was seriously wounded five times! He only survived as his metal glasses case, as well as his German Cross, has stopped the bullet. Hauptmann L. died in the 1970s from a heart attack.

German Cross in Gold. Made by C.F. Zimmermann. "20" maker marked on the back of the pin. Because of its weight and construction, collectors call it a "light" Zimmermann. No damage to the enamel. Multi-piece construction. Damaged by a gunshot on the rim. Weight: 45.5 gr.
Including a handwritten note by Hauptmann L., stating "German Cross in Gold, awarded on 24.3.1943, presented by Oberst Meyer near Smolensk (Russia), damaged by a gunshot on 5.7.1943 near Orel (Russia)". He also wrote the same information about the damage on the back of the German Cross.
1939 Iron Cross 1st Class on screw-back. "L/54" maker marked. Three-part construction. Iron core. Original black paint. "EK 1" written on the back. With the matching LDO case of issue. "E.K. 1 - Schraube - L/54" marked to the bottom. It opens and closes correctly.

Two General Assault Badges. Made from zinc. Semi-hollow construction. "Sturm Abz" written on the back of a badge.

Heer officer's dagger with hangers. "Christianswerk Solingen" maker marked to the blade. It has some rust stains. An orange handle, which is slightly loose. Silvered metal fittings. No dents to the scabbard. One of the scabbard bands is broken. With the matching dagger hangers. Both snap clips work perfectly. Signs of wear.
Heer pararade bayonet K98. It comes with a nice clean blade. "TIGER Solingen" maker marked. Black bakelite grip plates. No chipping. Original black painted steel scabbard. No dents. Including the matching portepee and leather frog. The felt backing of the frog has worn off. Length bayonet: 40 cm.
Heer officer's sabre. The blade is in nice condition. Made by Paul Weyersberg, Solingen. Maker marked. Brass hilt fittings. The langet shows the initials of Oskar L. "OL" (engraved). Black celluloid grip with wire wrapping. No damage. Attached officer's portepee. Original black painted steel scabbard. No dents. Including the original cloth bag. Length sabre: 91 cm.
