A fantastic German M40 helmet. A fieldgrey Heer helmet which comes with a late war strayed camo paint to the shell. It is not a typical "Normany camo" paint but a camo paint dating back later in war. The owner of this helmet, Unteroffizier Foss, was serving with 11. Panzer-Division. His unit served in West Germany towards the end of the war and was involved in the battle of Remagen. The type of camo fits perfectly to early 1945!

The helmet was never available on the market before! It was found in exactly that condition at a household closing about 15 years ago in Bavaria. Both, camo paint and the name and Feldpostnummer "Uffz. Foss 27072" written to the inside are 100% period time!

Paint: Fieldgrey painted (brush marks) above the original factory paint. Then sprayed over with a three-color camo paint: tan, green, red.
Nearly 100% of the camo paint are in place.

Lining: Flexible leather lining. Still soft. Original cord. Size 61 (huge size).
Unopened prongs. The liner is original to the shell. Two dents to the zinc inner ring.

Chin strap: Soft leather. Unmarked.
