Beschreibung
1939 Knight's Cross with Oak Leaf and Swords document with formal presentation folder to Gordon Gollob. Gordon Mac Gollob was a German Luftwaffe military aviator during World War II, a fighter ace credited with 150 enemy aircraft shot down in over 340 combat missions. Originally from Austria, he claimed the majority of his victories over the Eastern Front, and six over the Western Front, five of which he claimed as a Messerschmitt Bf 110 heavy fighter pilot.
 
Gordon Gollob was awarded the 3rd Diamonds to the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaf and Swords on 30. August 1942 as Major and Geschwaderkommodore of Jagdgeschwader 77.
 
Document with raised golden eagle and name GORDON GOLLOB. Handwritten text in typical capital letters. Original ink signature of Adolf Hitler. "FÜHRERHAUPTQUARTIER DEN 23.JUNI 1942" dated.
Pergament document.
 
Original formal leather presentation folder with impressive raised tombak eagle and bordering, gilt. Eagle roughly 15cm high and 11cm wide.  "FRIEDA THIERSCH" maker marked.
 
Size: 44cm + 34cm. Professionally restored. Postwar parchment replacement. Tombak bordering re-gilt.
Including a postwar manufactured protection folder.
 
Gollob's personal belongings were sold by the family originally. All his items were hided in a barn and were found in bad condition. This item was owned by a collector since 1999 and was now consigned to us.
 
Extremely rare.
