A very interesting Heer M35 double decal helmet which could certainly tell some story. It was issued as an early "apple green" double decal helmet. There is still much of the original color! It was then painted with a rough field grey paint around 1940. Much of this color can be seen to the inside. Finally, "zimmerit" camo paste was added. About 25-30% are still in place and are also covering both decals. The eagle decal is about 60%, the national shield about 20%.
The liner and rivets are definitely to his helmet. Leather liner is still soft. Size 56. Early round stamp to the liner. The chin strap is unmarked. The leather is still soft. The markings to the shell are covered by the 1940 paint.
