Very rare SS Honor Ring to SS-Gruppenführer and Generalleutnant der Waffen-SS und Polizei Walter Schimana (1898-1948).

He became an early member of the NSDAP and SA, on 7. December 1926. After the annexation of Austria, he joined the SS in August 1939. During WWII he was SS and Police Leader in the occupied Soviet Union in 1942 and Higher SS and Police Leader in occupied Greece from October 1943. Furthermore commander of the SS-Freiwilligen-Division "Galizien". Involved in anti-partisan combat "Bandenbekämpfung" as well as awarded with the German Cross in Gold for his bravery act at "Groß-Unternehmen WEICHSEL". Heinrich Himmler personally signed the proposal for the award of the German Cross in gold. Proven by his SS personnel file (not included).

Schimana was arrested by the Allies after the war. He committed suicide on 12. September 1948 in his cell.

Awards: 1939 Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, German Cross in gold, 1939 War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords, NSDAP Golden Party Badge, SS Honor Ring and SA Sports Badge in gold.

The ring was manufactured by Gahr, München. Engraved "S.lb. Schimana 20.4.40 H.Himmler". Diameter inside: 18.70 mm. A nicely worn ring in good condition 2.

Including three paintings (postwar photocopies) which he painted during his POW time.
