Unique photo collection in custom made case presented to Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves recipient General Friedrich Wiese in February 1944 by the Gauleiter of Hamburg, Karl Kaufmann. All photos were taken period time in Hamburg and are attached to a high quality cardboard backing. Pencil writing explains the scenes.
General der Infanterie Friedrich Wiese (1892-1975) was awarded the Knight's Cross on 12.2.1942 commanding Inf.Rgt.39 and the Oak Leaves on 24.1.1944 as "Kommandierender General" of XXXV.Armeekorps. Pictures of Wiese are available on the internet.
The collection starts with a hand-written document addressed to "Herrn General der Infanterie Friedrich Wiese Träger des Eichenlaubes zum Ritterkreuz ...."
It says that the collection was presented to him commemorating his service time with the Hamburg police (during piece time) and his bravery during the war.
It was presented by "Gauleiter und Reichssstatthalter in Hamburg" Karl Kaufmann. The document comes with an original ink signature of Kaufmann.
It is "Februar 1944" dated.
