Kriegsmarine mess hall jacket

Description

A high-quality officer's Kriegsmarine parade tunic to Korvettenkapitän der Marineartillerie Johannes Kortmann (crew of 1912).

Korvettenkapitän Kortmann was born on 21.9.1889 and served as an "Einjährig-Freiwilliger" from 1912 until 1913. From 1914 until 1918, he served during WWI. He was discharged as a young Reichswehr Leutnant in 1919.

From 1921 until 1937 he served as a teacher with "Höhere Marinefachschulen für Verwaltung und Wirtschaft" at Cuxhaven and Wilhelmshaven. From 1938 he became an active soldier and served with "Marinestationskommando Ostsee", "Marinegruppenkommando Süd", "Marineoberkommando Nord" and "Wehrmachtskommandant Glückstadt" as we could find out. There are some information available on his service time. He was released from war captivity in March 1946.

Fine textbook tunic! It comes with a "OFFIZIERKLEIDERKASSE W'haven" name tag to "Kptlt. M.A.E. Kortmann". It is "3. FEB. 38." dated.

Fine black silk lining. Three rank strips to the sleeves indicating the rank of a Korvettenkapitän. Excellent quality hand-embroidered officer's breast eagle period time attached by hand.

Period time hand-attached (sewn) 4-place ribbon proving that Kortmann served in WW1 and won the Iron Cross 2nd Class and had at least 12 years of service in total.

There is one pair of loops to the right side for a Spanish Cross or a German Cross and one pair to the left side for another badge like an Iron Cross 1st Class for example. All loops are definitely original to this tunic.

All buttons complete and originally attached.

Very nice condition. Medium size. No damage. Untouched!
