M38 RAD NCO's hewer

Description

An early RAD Unerführer hewer. So-called "Fat Man" type.

The blade shows the etched motto "Arbeit adelt". "Carl Eickhorn, Solingen" maker marked and "RAD J" marked as well as "Ges.Gesch." marked on the reverse. Slight stains on both sides.

Nickel-plated tombak handle fittings. Early style of grips! No replacements! Engraved with the name "Georg Feldt" of the recipient as well as his initials "GF". Remains of the original black finish (anodizing) to the scabbard in place. Nickel-plated tombak fittings. 3-4 small dents on the lower fitting. All four screws are in position and unopened. Also marked "I" on the upper fitting and crossguard.

A piece with "been there character". Most probably even issued to a leader!
