Wehrmacht, 'standard-issue'-pattern K98-bayonet being a matching example that comes with its period-attached frog. Both bayonet and scabbard bear the makers'-designation- (ie. coded number): 'S238G' and are both showing the (serial-)number: '7652 f'. The piece has brownish-coloured- and wooden-based grips and shows the 'WaA'-markings as usually encountered. The piece retains a fair bit of its darker-bluish toned finish and only shows moderate wear and/or age: it has been stored for decades and shows some (rust-) staining and dirt (mainly on the scabbard): it was, however, never cleaned. The brownish-black-coloured frog retains all its four steel-based rivets but is void of any makers'-designation. The frog is used but is fully souple and functional.
