Heer M16 helmet (transitional)


Description

A German M16 helmet. Generally, a WW1 period design, this type helmet was occasionally re-issued to German troops after 1935. Both, Heer and Luftwaffe M16 helmets are known. This example was issued by the Heer and comes a period time applied eagle decal. A bullet has hit the helmet and had gone through both sides of the shell including the liner. 

M16 helmet shell which looks to show its WW1 period time paint to the outside. The inside shows another layer of paint which reminds on the darker grey added after 1935.

Decals: The eagle decal is about 70%

M34 helmet liner with metal ring period time applied after 1935. Leather liner with stains. Size marked. Bullet hole. 

Markings to the shell can not bee seen due to the thick grey paint to the inside.
