Luftwaffe M38 paratrooper helmet

Description

Nicely worn M38 paratrooper helmet with lining and chin straps. This helmet is one of four helmets coming out of the Monte Cassino abbey. The helmets were supposedly donated by the Benedictine monks of the abbey to a small local museum in the town of Cassino in 1971.  When this museum closed its doors after less than 10 years in operation, the helmets were acquired by the collector from Naples and found its way to the market.

The ET68 marked shell with nearly full original factory paint. About 90% of the paint is still in place. Signs of wear. It was issued with a single Luftwaffe decal which is still about 80%.

The front shows a very early hand-written document in Italian which was glued to the shell.

Soft leather lining. "Karl Hensler" maker marked. Size "57" marked. A lucky charm was attached to the end of the straps to be worn underneath the lining.

First pattern soft leather straps. One side was cut off

A rare helmet in good condition.
