Wound Badge in Gold, 1st Pattern

Description

Wound Badge in Gold to Hauptmann Oskar L. serving with Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 85. German Cross in Gold winner on 24. March 1943.

The award comes directly from his family and was never on the market.  What makes this grouping really special is that this grouping came together with the German Cross in gold grouping of Hauptmann H. which is also available in this catalog!

Hauptmann H. and Hauptmann L. were both decorated with the German Cross. Hauptmann H.’s son and Hauptmann L.’s daughter got married which is the reason both groupings came from the same family!

Hauptmann L. Was seriously five times! He only survived as his metal glasses case, as well as his German Cross, has stopped the bullet. Hauptmann L. died in the 1970s from a heart attack.

_

Excellent Wound Badge in Gold. It comes with a beautiful finish. Made from tombak. Hollow inside, so-called "hohl verbödet". Hard to find! With the original black case of issue. The case opens and closes correctly.

Including a handwritten note by Hauptmann L., stating that "the badge was awarded to him on 30. June 1943 after his 5th wounding by Hauptmann Rast at the military hospital in Brest, Russia".

In our 42nd Contemporary Auction, we are offering more items by Hauptmann L..
