M18 helmet cavalry

Description

Extremely rare German WW1 period time M18 helmet. A so-called "cut-out" version mainly issued to cavalry troops! His first owner, Oberleutnant Radeke, has not only worn this helmet during WWI. He used it as his helmet serving with the Reichswehr after 1920, too. The helmet is "Obltn. Radeke" named and "R.R.14" unit marked. Reiter-Regiment 14 was founded in spring 1920 and later renamed to Kavallerie-Regiment 14.

Full period time fieldgrey color! Brushed to the shell. A "black-white-red" decal was painted to the left side of the helmet in the Reichswehr era.
Original metal ring and rivets. Period time applied leather lining with content to the pads. The leather is quite hard. Including the original chin strap with a working snap. The seam of one side has opened. Please see close-up.

No markings to the shell found. Most probably overpainted by the grey color.

An untouched example available to the market for the first time!
