Description
Important grouping to Hauptmann Wilhelm Werlin who was awarded the Knight's Cross during the battle of Stalingrad. He had a "Versorgung Stalingrad" mission (see his flight book) to Pitomnik (Stalingrad) on 30.12.1942, the day the Knight's Cross was awarded to him. 
At this time, Werlin had over 320 enemy missions, destroyed over 40 aircrafts on the ground, more than 150 lorries, 8 trains and 5 ships on the river Wolga!
 
His grouping was never available on the market. Please see other lots to Wilhelm Werlin and also his father, SS-Oberführer Jakob Werlin.
 
Early silver Honor Goblet award to Knight's Cross recipient Hauptmann Wilhelm Werlin. Werlin was awarded the Knight's Cross on 30.12.1942 as a Staffelkapitän I./K.G.27 "Boelche" and the Honor Goblet on 10.5.1941 as an Oberleutnant.
 
Textbook goblet by Wagner & Sohn. "835" silver stamped. Marked with half-moon, crown and eagle. "JOH.WAGNER & SOHN" maker marked.
 
No dents. Very nice condition.
Height: 20,5cm.
Weight: 422gr.
 
A scarce honor goblet to a pilot awarded the Knight's Cross during the battle of Stalingrad.
