Description

The Dannebrog Order believed to have originally been established by King Valdemar II in 1219, and later re-instituted by King Christian V, in honor of the birth of his first son (King Frederik IV) in 1671. It was revised by King Frederick VI in 1808, adding four new classes, and was then awarded to any Danish man, without restrictions to age or his rank. To date, the Order is awarded to recognize individuals who have rendered outstanding, commendable, and distinctive military or civil service, as well as contribution to the sciences, arts, or business.

Knight’s cross by Christian X (Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm; 26 September 1870 – 20 April 1947) who was King of Denmark from 1912 to his death in 1947, and the only King of Iceland as Kristján X, in the form of a personal union rather than a real union between 1918 and 1944.

Silver and enamel in absolute mint condition and in case of issue with a piece of ribbon.
