Description

This Grand Commander Cross was made from gold and enamel. The cross is in its very best condition

Like most Oldenburg decorations, this one also shows alternating red and yellow gold finishes.

The ring that connects the crown to the cross is the simpler early style double ring that dates the cross to the 1850s. In addition to the slightly smaller size of the cross, the painting of the Oldenburg coat of arms also indicates the early manufacture.

Only 610 Grand Commander Crosses were awarded from 1838 to 1918.
