Impressive large size bust of Rudolf Hess. He was a leading member of the NSDAP and "Deputy Führer" to Adolf Hitler (appointed in 1933). In 1941 he flew solo to Scotland in an attempt to negotiate peace with the United Kingdom. Sentenced to life imprisonment at the end of WW2. On 17. August 1987 he committed suicide in Spandau Prison.
Real bronze bust. Mounted on a black marble base (chipping). "Guss Brandstetter München" marked and the artist's signature by Josef Thorak (THORAK). He was an Austrian-German sculptor and the most popular sculptor in the Third Reich. Supported by the NS-regime.
