The 4th Class cross of the Guelphic Order with swords is made from silver and enamel.
The 4th class with swords was awarded in total of 564 crosses from 1842 to 1865.
The example is despite it's age in very good condition. The loss of some green enamel is linked to the manufacture method. The silver underneath the laurel wreath was not gilt or otherwise treated and tends to loose the enamel during aging.
Some minor chipping in the blue enamel as well, but a true sign of a valued and worn example.
