Imperial Germany - WW1 "Roold" pilot's helmet (Kgl. bay. Fliegertruppe)

Description

Leather WW1 period time German pilot's crash helmet. A so-called "Roold" pattern made by Lorenz stanko based in Munich in 1938. A French-designed helmet worn by French pilots, however, also worn by Germans and even manufactured by German companies.

There is a size "57" ink stamp to the soft leather lining. In addition a size "56" paper tag is attached to the inside of the helmet. The leather neck and ear protection is finished with dark-blue felt to the inside. The brown leather straps are still fine. The metal ventilation holes show original color but also some rust.

The leather helmet comes with typical signs of age but generally is in good condition. Signs of wear.
