Description

A beautiful photo album to a paratrooper named "Seppi" serving with 16./Sturm-Regiment. The album documents very detailed the Battle of Crete. It is like a "diary" with numerous handwritten information and maps inside.

It starts with the preparations in Helmstadt at the end of April 1941. In the further course many shots of the train trip to Greece. Trough the Protectorate, Hungary, in the Banat, Bulgaria, Salonika, ... on May 16, the unit arrived in Athens. From 13.5. until 20.5.1941 the Sturm-Regiment was in the port of Megara.

"Der 20. Mai 1941" May 20, 1941. The battle of Crete begins. Very nice pictures of the combats. Furthermore, the album gives an excellent overview of the paratroopers clothing and of their equipment. Including tropical clothing and camouflaged helmets. It ends with the reception in Helmstadt on 13.7.1941.

The whole album was translated into English by a collector (postwar). The translation is always glued to the left side of the photo album.

Total: 445 roughly photos.

Linen cover with lettering "Kreta 1941 16./Sturm-Regiment" and an Iron Cross in the center.

Unique! Nice condition 2+.
