Description

Grouping to Luftwaffe Honor Goblet winner Leutnant Ekkehard Radlach serving with III./Kampfgeschwader 2 "Holzhammer". Leutnant Radlach has been missing since March 3, 1943. He did not return from a combat mission over England. This grouping came directly from the son of the soldier in November 2020 and has been never available on the market before. The grouping ships with a handwritten statement of the son confirming the provenience.

A very nice early Luftwaffe Honor Goblet. Made from silver. "835" hallmarked and "JOH.WAGNER&SOHN" maker marked to the bottom. Furthermore, the engraved inscription "Leutnant Ekkehard Radlach am 20.6.1941". No dents. Lovely patina.

Radlach's cigarette case. The top shows the squadron emblem of the KG 2 "Holzhammer". Engraving inside "Zur Erinnerung and die III./K.G.2 - Das Offz.-Korps". Furthermore, some facsimile signatures form his comrades of the Offizierskorps. Several stamps. Size: 10.7x7.5 cm.

His personal wartime (!) wristwatch. Nickel-plated metal case. Black watch dial with two sub-dials. The crown and both pushers are fully working. Original glass in position. "FOND ACIER INOXYDABLE" marked and "5242" numbered to the baseplate. Furthermore his name "Ekkehard Radlach" (engraved). Including an OMEGA wristband (probably replaced by a family member to wear the watch). The watch runs fine!

Roughly 100 very nice period time photos of his Luftwaffe service. Including four photos of the Luftwaffe Honor Goblet awarding ceremony. Excellent! In addition, shots of Feldwebel Krabbenhöft (see the enclosed newspaper report, please). One of the photos show Radlach being presented his Honor Goblet. It is exactly the same goblet available with this grouping!

A period time newspaper of the Frankfurter Zeitung from 4. June 1942. There is a report in the newspaper about a combat mission in which Leutnant Radlach was involved together with Feldwebel Krabbenhöft. The names were censored ("Leutnant R." = Radlach and "Feldwebel K." = Krabbenhöft).

Including postwar documents from the KG 2 "Holzhammer" and Knight's Cross winner Hauptmann Josef Steudel (including a portrait photo of him, postwar). Please see the pictures.

Nice condition.
