Ribbon for Grand Cross of the 1914 Iron Cross

Description
Extremely rare worn ribbon for the Grand Cross to the 1914 Iron Cross. The ribbon shows signs of wear. You can see that the loop of the cross was worn to the center. There are two small holes to the left and right were it was attached to buttons underneath the wearer's collar. It was worn exactly like that. Not a piece of ribbon but THE actual ribbon worn with a grand cross.

King Frederick William III of Prussia initially created the Iron Cross as a military decoration on March 17, 1813, during the Napoleonic Wars. The Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War (1870), World War I (1914), and World War II (1939).

The Iron Cross was usually a military decoration only but awarded to civilians for performing military functions in a few instances.
