Table bust of Knight's Cross winner Major Karl-Hermann Lion serving with Sturzkampfgeschwader 1 and 101 as well as Schlachtgeschwader 103. He flew a total of 670 ground attack sorties by war's end. After the war, he served from 1959 until 1968 with the German Bundeswehr. Lion's last military rank was Oberstleutnant.
Awards: Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 4. June 1942 (awarded after flying 368 sorties as a Stuka pilot), 1939 Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, German Cross in gold on 1. December 1941 and Luftwaffe Pilot's Badge.
The bust is made from ceramics. "W.R. Ney" artist signature to the back. Height: 32 cm. Weight: 6.6 cm. Signs of use and 2-3 stress cracks.
