Description

Early Heer officer's sabre to Hauptmann Rauterberg serving with Infanterie-Regiment 25.

An excellent real Damascus and so-called "Steckrückenklinge mit Schör" blade. It shows very nice gilt ornaments on a blued background. Also the inscription "Ehrenpreis für hervorragende Schießleistungen 1935" (honorary award for outstanding shooting performance 1935). On the other side is the name of the recipient as well as his unit "Hptm. Rauterberg, I. R. 25.". Made by E.&F. Hörster, Solingen. Triple marking on the blade.

Black celluloid grip with gilt wire wrapping. No damage. The finger loop is present and also intact. Gilt brass hilt fittings. The front langet bears an oak leaf decor instead of the national eagle. Attached officer's portepee. Black repainted (decades ago if not period time) steel scabbard. It has a small dent. Including the leather hanger and the matching cloth bag.

Length: 90.5 cm.

A very rare sabre!
