Saxe Altenburg - Honor cross for Laborers and Domestic Servants after 30 years of service, 1895-1918

Description

The Cross was initially created on September 16, 1886, for domestic servants of either gender and after their 21st birthday. The award had to be applied for at the appropriate office within Altenburg. The cross did not have to be returned and could stay within the family of a recipient after his or her death. The orders chancellery would however trade the cross in for its material value.

The circle of potential recipients was opened to laborers in 1895.

Here a cross from 1895 onwards, coined in fine silver and suspended from a tailored ribbon with suspension safety pin.

Beautiful condition.
