Description

This medal features a very typical assembly for a member of the Brunswick gendarmerie.

The bar consists of the Brunswick, War Merit Cross 2nd Class on the non-combatant ribbon, bronze, the Brunswick, House Order of Henry the Lion affiliated Merit Cross 2nd Class in silver, the Brunswick Long Service Cross for 21 years of service (1879-1886), silver, Prussia, National Guard Long Service Medal 2nd Class (1913-1918), bronze gilt, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Silver Merit Medal for Military Personnel (1885-1918), silver and the Prussian Centennial Medal (1897), bronze.

The Brunswick Long Service Cross for 21 years of service (1879-1886) was only awarded to the gendarmerie staff after Brunswick signed the military convention in 1866 with Prussia. Gendarmerie sergeant Karl Schwarze oversaw the branch office in Altenbrak south east of the city of Braunschweig.

Wonderful medal bar in great condition.
