Description

Consigned by the family and never part of a collection before!

Bavarian interim sword for cavalry officers. Issued to Rittmeister Erkel.

A so-called "Steckrücken Klinge mit Schör" blade. It comes with a beautifully etching to two sides. Nice gilt ornaments including the Bavarian motto "IN TREUE FEST!" on both sides. Blued background. One side also shows the colored coat of arms of Bavaria. "JOS. VIERHEILIGS NACHFR." marked to the back of the blade. 

A real ray skin finished grip. Intact wire wrapping. Nice decorated brass hilt fittings. Engraving to both langets "Die Stabskp. ihrem Gründer Herrn Rittm. Erkel" and "in Dankbarkeit München IV.-X. 1919". Matching officer's portepee.

Black painted steel scabbard without dents. Including the sword hanger.
