German Empire - Combatant of World War I Badge 1914-1918

Description

Silvered Badge with markings "D.R.G.M. ges.gesch." on reverse. On safety pin.

Handsome badge for participants of World War I.

The membership badge was issued by the "Front Fighters of the World War 1914-1918 eV" association. The club was probably founded in Bremen before 1919 and is one of the many soldiers' clubs that were founded during and after the First World War. In general, the associations looked after the honorable memory of the combatants in the World War, the support of the returning members or the widows and orphans of former members. A fund was often set up to help with the burial and maintenance of graves and monuments.
