Description

Original drawing by Ernst Krause showing the portrait of a Waffen-SS LAH member. Artist's signature and "TK 41" dated. Postwar framed. On the reverse an attached document. "Krause" named an "SS-Kriegsberichter" stamped.

Size frame: 67x55 cm.

Size picture: 21x29 cm.

Ernst Krause served as an SS war reporter with the SS-Leibstandarte and SS-Kriegsberichter-Standarte. In December 1941 he was commissioned by Sepp Dietreich to paint a picture for the 53rd birthday of Adolf Hilter. Hitler was so enthusiastic about the painting "Die Ritterkreuzträger der Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hilter", that he commissioned him to design the East Medal. Krause's works were published in some SS newspapers and at the German Art Exhibition (Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung).

Some information about Ernst Krause were published in the book "Die Werbeplakate der Waffen-SS“ by A. Vogt. You can also exactly see this drawing in this book.
