A Saxon spike helmet M1871 with nicely matching front emblem, chin strap and fittings. Matching patina. No extra holes. The helmet comes with minor signs of wear and age and is not deformed. Reichskokarde as well as the Landeskokarde in place with full original color. Chin strap attached with correct officer's screws. Fine silk lining with clear signs of age. A little worn. Seams have opened so the silk lining has partially separated from the leather lining.
Nice patina! Matching gilt finish to all metal parts.
Removable spike. Two pips of the spike plate missing. No extra holes.Size "54 1/2" noted with pencil.
Two-part constructed Saxon star attached to a Prussian eagle with a reserve cross "Für Fürst und Vaterland".
A quite rare helmet in good condition.
