WWI naval infantry cutlass with group photo 1917

Description

Rare WWI naval infantry cutlass. So-called "Entersäbel".

The blade comes with the maker's mark by Simson & Co. as well as a Kaiserliche Marine acceptance mark ("M with crown"). Stained.

A "heavy" iron basket hilt. The grip is made from wood. Leather scabbard with iron fittings. Both are repainted. The upper fitting also bears the "M" acceptance mark. Length: 59 cm. It's hard to slide the cutlass into the scabbard and it doesn't go all the way in either.

Including a group photo of the recipient with his comrades. Taken in October 1917. Postcard size.

A nice set!
