Prussia - Iron Cross lapel pin and ribbon bar

Description

A lapel pin, still attached to the store display cardboard with Iron Cross imprint. The lapel pin has a miniature Iron Cross attached and shows the D.R.G.M mark on the reverse. Comes with silver and enameled ribbon bar showing the Iron Cross and a Wuerttemberg Bravery medal or order. Ribbon Bar shows on the reverse the D.R.G.M. mark as well as unknown maker and Silver content mark 800/000.

King Frederick William III of Prussia initially created the Iron Cross as a military decoration on March 17, 1813, during the Napoleonic Wars. The Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War (1870), World War I (1914), and World War II (1939).

The Iron Cross was usually a military decoration only but awarded to civilians for performing military functions in a few instances.
