Description

Officer's cross of the Spanish Order of St. Ferdinand. Material gold and enamel. On original old ribbon section with applied rosette. Minimal enamel repair in the medallion ring, the white enamel undamaged. Beautifully crafted piece with radiance. 56,8 x 36,1 mm, 15,8 g.

Large star of the Spanish Order of St. Ferdinand from the first third of the 19th century. Material silver, gold and enamel. On the back in the area of the medallion engraved the maker "Beaugeois Bijoutier A PARIS", who according to Jacob (Court Jewelers of the World, ISBN 0-918924-02-2) worked only from 1815 to 1820. The star is - hardly noticeable from the front - repaired in several areas of the cross arm ends. These are old, very individually executed repairs of the material, which give the piece a special charm.

The front medallion with perfectly intact dark and lighter blue enamel, the overlays with few chips, not disturbing the overall picture. The final "R" of the highly finely worked in gold, individually applied letters ("AL MERITO MILITAR") with flaws.

Impressive example and testimony to the best jeweller's art from about 200 years ago.
80,2 x 80,2 mm, 46,9g.

A wonderful and matching french made set.
