Made from gilded silver and enamel. Fantastic condition with its gold plating fully present. The cross comes with its original case of issue and still folded ribbon.

The Zimmermann company offered in 1916 to take the production on for the lack of inventory of old knight crosses.  The offered cross is such a knight cross. Hennig Volle estimates* that only 2/3 of the 288 knight crosses awarded during World War I were sourced through Zimmermann as smaller real golden crosses from previous wars still existed.
