Important wall picture of II.Gruppe Jagdgeschwader 51 "Mölders" which must have hung in the commander's office or unit barracks. It is a high quality custom made glass pictures inside its strong wood frame construction.
The picture documents the campaigns in 1939 and 1940 of II./J.G.51. A Me109 aircraft is painted between the two years "1939" and "1940". There is the Gruppe's emblem to the center. It is surrounded by 16 painted scenes documenting their campaigns during the Poland, France and Battle of Britain Campaigns. The pictures are about 12cm + 12cm and very detailed.
The technique this picture was done is not entirely clear to us. Some bits look to have been printed, some hand-painted behind the glass.
There are little scratches and signed of use and age however, the overall condition of this unique piece of history is very good.
