Waffen-SS, period-framed award-document: EK II.Kl. 'SS-Sturmmann' Oberschmidtleitner ('SS-Regiment "D"). The standard-issued pattern- (and early-period!) award-document (ie. 'Verleihungsurkunde') for the: 'Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse' (or: iron-class second-class) was issued to the: 'SS-Sturmmann' Oberschmidtleitner (member within the: 'Stabskompanie des SS-Regiments"Deutschland") on 25 July, 1940.
The document comes in a wooden-based frame - that measures 21 x 15 cms. - and is neatly filled-in (by hand) and was issued 'in the field' (ie. 'Im Felde') and is clearly signed by the: 'SS-Gruppenführer u. Div. Kommandeur' named: Paul Hausser. It is clearly ink-stamped with an ink-stamp ('Dienstsiegel') that reads: 'SS-D-Division' as to be expected.
We were able to remove the document from the frame without damaging it. We compared it with another EK2 document to check the size. The document was cut about 1-3mm to search size to fit in the frame. So it is 95% of its original size.
