A unique WW1 Medal Bar and Documents grouping to Oberleutnant der Reserve Dr. Hans Merk. There is a very extensive typed biography of this individual which accompanies the many original documents that are part of this group. The mounted medals include the Bremen Hanseatic Cross (with 1916 certificate), the 1914-1918 Honor Cross (with 1935 certificate), the Bulgarian War Medal (with 1937 certificate), the Austrian War Medal with Swords (with 1937 certificate), and the Hungarian War Medal (with 1936 certificate and transmittal letter). The grouping also includes the original commissioning document (as a Leutnant), various legal appointment certificates (as a Dr. of Law, etc.) and other correspondence. The historian who wrote the biography included an extensive history of his combat experience which was considerable. The medal bar is in near mint condition and the documents vary from near mint to very good condition. The grouping includes a 2012 Craig Gottlieb Militaria certificate of authenticity (to be mailed separately).
