Description
Two-pieced award- & award-document: 'KvK I. Kl. mit Schw.' in etui - 'Obergefreiten' Handschuh - '3./Eisb.Bau-Btl.106'. The set comprises of a (silver-toned- and/or 'Buntmetall'-based-) so-called: 'Kriegsverdienstkreuz I. Klasse mit Schwerter' (or war-merits'-cross 1st class with swords) that comes stored in its period (semi-leather) etui as issued.

The award comes mounted on its functional (and non-altered) pin- ie. pin/catch-set-up and shows the maker-designation '62' on the back of its pin. Moreover, is the etui nicely marked: 'Kerbach u. Oesterholt - Dresden A1' (making this a fully matching set). The award was issued and/or worn and show moderate age, wear and/or staining (it was, however, never cleaned). Of additional interest is, moreover, the fact that the etui is of an early-period pattern that shows a (complete) illustration of the KvK on its top.

The award came with a standard-issued pattern award-document (ie. 'Verleihungsurkunde') that what issue to the: 'Obergefreiten' Franz Handschuh (member within the: '3./Eisb.Bau-Btl.106) on 20 April, 1944. This document is neatly filled-in (by a type-writer) shows a (genuine) signature of the: 'Generalleutnant und General der Eisenbahntruppen' named: Otto Karl August Josef Will.

The document is clearly ink-stamped with an ink-stamp ('Dienstsiegel') that reads: 'General der Eisenbahntruppen' as to be expected.
