Heer EM/NCO-pattern side-cap (ie. 'Schiffchen') as was intended for staff serving within the Panzer-Pioniere (ie. tank engineers). The piece is executed in black wool and shows a (typical) greyish-coloured lining. The cap shows a clearly stamped makers'-stamp (that reads: '1941 - WIENER MÜTZEN LAGO 12 - 56') and has both (black-coloured) venthole-rivets in place. The cap shows a greyish-coloured cap-eagle and dito cocarde in place (both attached by hand) and also shows the black- and white striped 'Soutache'-chevron period-attached. Of additional interest is also the fact that the cap shows a period-attached safety-pin on its top: something that was more often seen and was done to keep the cap in a nice shape. The cap is in overall nice condition and shows only moderate age and/or wear. It is sized '56' and will with certainty fit a mannequins' head.
